End Table…New Beginning

Don’t you love giving a piece of furniture a “new beginning?” That’s what happened to this end table…it’s not the end, but the beginning…of something great.

I found this table at Restore for $25 and knew that I wanted it as soon as I saw the “bamboo” look on the legs and the top. My thought was that it would be perfect in our vacation home. I was on the lookout for some “beachy” furniture.

Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall! What Should I Do With You???

So a couple of days ago, I promised to show you the great mirror I grabbed at Restore for $45. I love it! It is large (it weighs a ton!) It’s also very unique.

I have spent weeks trying to figure out what to do with it. I knew where I wanted to put it, I just wasn’t sure what I should do to it, to give it that extra spark!

Lanterns…Two If By Sea

Yesterday I mentioned that I would show you the great mirror I snagged at Restore…Change of plans…I’ll show you that one tomorrow. Let’s talk lanterns…

Lanterns in home decor can add interest and variety to your home. They are available in all shapes and sizes and can serve a variety of functions. They can be old or new. They can be used indoors or out. They can be functional or used solely for decorative purposes.

It’s A Jungle Out There

Let’s talk animal print. Do you love it or hate it? I love it, in moderation. Whether it’s in home decor or fashion, I believe that animal print should be used appropriately.  I was once told that every home should have a touch of animal print. I repeat…a touch.

For example, you can add animal print in certain places, like in lamp shades. Here, I have two lamps with animal print shades on a table in my foyer. They are unique and striking. They give people a sense of my eclectic style, as soon as they walk through the door. They are “memorable.”

Favorite Fabulous Frames

Everyone has something in their home decor that they are drawn to…what I mean is, something that is their “thing.” For example, I love antique picture frames. I love them large. I love them small. I love them all!

My late grandmother was an antique dealer. She shared her love of antiques with me and taught me to appreciate them. I have several antique pieces, but none that I love more than my frames.

The vast majority of my antique frames hold family portraits. Each of my children have an 11×14 baby picture in an antique frame. I tend to use them for pictures that hold significant memories for us, like for example my son’s senior picture. Their wedding pictures will be in them one day…

Here are two examples of them in my home. I have them on the wall going up my stairs and on the wall in my master bedroom.
