There are many styles and types of baskets. I like to have a mixture of baskets in my home. If I like look of a basket, I’ll get it! I tend to like the older baskets that have the warm patina to them as well as any basket that has an interesting weave.
I recently found this great round basket at Pier1. The weave and dark color are beautiful. Here I’ve used it as a tray on my coffee table to highlight my Fall decor.

Many years ago, I became the recipient of a church pew that was no longer needed by my home congregation. We were adding on to our building and getting new pews. It’s not an antique. At the time, it was probably about 20 years old.
It was a basic oak colored pew that had been painted a mauve color by someone years before I took it home. I then painted it red…of course.
Last year, I decided it needed a change. The red paint had seen better days…it was chipping and peeling.
I wanted to paint it, but also give it a little detail. After a stop at Lowe’s, I decided to add some decorative wood appliques. This is what I came up with…
Let’s talk animal print. Do you love it or hate it? I love it, in moderation. Whether it’s in home decor or fashion, I believe that animal print should be used appropriately. I was once told that every home should have a touch of animal print. I repeat…a touch.
For example, you can add animal print in certain places, like in lamp shades. Here, I have two lamps with animal print shades on a table in my foyer. They are unique and striking. They give people a sense of my eclectic style, as soon as they walk through the door. They are “memorable.”
